Are drones allowed in Greece
As per the HCAA (Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority), drones are permitted in Greece, provided they adhere to both HCAA and EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency) regulations. Continue reading for further information.
Greece drone laws checklist
- Only individuals authorized by request are allowed to operate the UAS (Unmanned Aircraft System) at all times.
- The UAS is restricted from flying above 400 feet AGL (above ground level).
- Operating the UAS near airports and heliports is prohibited.
- The UAS must remain within the operator's visual line of sight at all times.
- The UAS can only be flown during daylight hours, adhering to HCAA rules.
- Flying the UAS over people or populated areas, including parking lots and streets, is strictly prohibited.
- Adverse weather conditions must be avoided when operating the UAS.
- A valid pilot license and International Insurance Certificate are mandatory.
- The UAS pilot must be reachable by cell phone at least 30 minutes before the flight and ideally at all times.
- If multiple flying areas are utilized, the UAS must land first and then move to the new location.
- For EU citizens, national state registration (UAS Registration Number in their country of origin) is accepted. Non-EU citizens must follow the CAA approval and registration policy.
- Full compliance with national and EU Data Privacy legislation is required.
