Are drones allowed in Serbia?

Serbia Drones Categories
Serbian regulations categorize drones based on weight and purpose. The following four categories have been established:
Category 1
Drones weighing less than 0.9 kg fall under Category 1 .
Category 2
encompasses drones weighing between 0.9 kg and 4 kg (excluding 4 kg).
Category 3
Drones weighing between 4 kg and 25 kg (excluding 25 kg).
Category 4
Includes drones weighing between 25 kg and 150 kg.
Who need to register their drone in Serbia?
In Serbia, all unmanned aircraft falling under categories 3 and 4 must be registered with the Directorate. Additionally, unmanned aircraft belonging to category 1 or 2 must also be registered if they are used for any of the following purposes:
- Flying at altitudes above 100 meters
- Flying in the vicinity of aerodromes
- Flying at a horizontal distance greater than 500 meters from the operator
- Flying over people or in their vicinity
- Flying within restricted areas
- Night flying
- Releasing fluid or objects or carrying external cargo that is not a part of the unmanned aircraft's structure.
- To ensure safety and security, the registration process is crucial. Once registered, you will be provided with a registration number that must be displayed on your drone. Make sure to keep this number visible and legible at all times while operating the drone.
Rules for Foreign Operators
- If you're a foreigner planning to bring your drone to Serbia, there's an important requirement you need to know about. Before entering the country, you must obtain permission from the Serbian Ministry of Defense.
- If you're planning to fly a drone in Serbia, it's important to know that the government requires all drones to be registered.
- Approval from the Civil Aviation Directorate (CAD) is necessary for every drone flight. Keep in mind that submitting a flight request to the CAD is required before taking off. It's important to note that flight requests can take up to five business days to process. It's recommended to plan accordingly to ensure your flight takes place as scheduled.
