General rules
In Turkey, the use of drones is regulated by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGSAA). According to DGSAA, all drones weighing over 500 grams must be registered and insured. Drones must also be flown at least 30 meters away from individuals and buildings, and must not fly higher than 120 meters. It is also illegal to fly drones near airports or in restricted areas such as military bases and government buildings.
Procedure for registration
To register a drone weighing over 500 grams in Turkey, you need to visit website https://iha.shgm.gov.tr/public/yardim
List of requirements for registration:
- Technical specifications of your drone (unless it is a DJI model such as the Mavic Air or others)
- An invoice signed by the seller, including the brand, model, and serial number of the drone
- Form 02 (UAV Compliance Statement Form)
- A receipt for the paid registration fee

Commercial use of drones in Turkey
The commercial use of drones in Turkey is regulated by the DGSAA and requires a special operating permit. To obtain this permit, operators must have a valid pilot's license and pass a theoretical and practical exam. They must also have liability insurance and follow strict operating guidelines, including flying at a maximum altitude of 120 meters and maintaining a minimum distance of 50 meters from individuals and buildings.
